Corinne Price
Bio
Corinne Price was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. She took interest in painting at an early age, as she watched her mom paint oil landscapes for her family. She is in the process of receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art and Minor in Art History at Southern Methodist University in May of 2017. She has studied many mediums such as photography, drawing, and printmaking. Printmaking has been a new found love, but painting still remains to be her highest passion. Currently, she is working on a series of monotypes, a mix of painting and printmaking combined.
Artist Statement
My current work reflects a childlike stance of reality that engages the psychological and emotional joys felt in childhood. My work relies on maintaining childlike innocence, while also bringing the viewer into a world of whimsy and fantasy. While some of my studies remain in realism, they remain open to the imagination. Each piece strives to be a removal from the harshness that encroaches on the world, a removal from reality. Entering into the eyes of a child through abstraction and separation. My works are created by my own raw intuitions and feelings. Each color interaction is placed and determined by the pleasure it brings to ones who can place themselves in the realm of naivety.
